3-2 Programs:

Nursing with Johns Hopkins University

Loyola College in Maryland is pleased to offer a five-year, dual-degree Nursing program through a special articulation agreement with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Students who choose this 3-2 program would complete their first three years at Loyola and last two years at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Students would earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Loyola College and their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

In order to receive a B.A. or B.S. from Loyola College, students must complete the first three years of the 3-2 program while majoring in either: Biology, Biology/Psychology Interdisciplinary major, or Sociology. This will include summer school attendance during at least one of the first three years at Loyola College.*

After completing the first year at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, students who have completed all Loyola College degree requirements are eligible to receive a B.A. or B.S. from Loyola College.

After the second year at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, students who have completed all the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing degree requirements are eligible to receive a B.S.N. from Johns Hopkins University.

The requirements for admission to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing are: 

  • Completion of the 20-course prerequisite requirement with a grade of B or better in each course
  • A minimum 3.200 cumulative grade point average
  • Submission of a completed application for admission to the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing as early as possible during the first semester of the third year. Candidates seeking early admission should apply by November 1 of the third year.
  • An official transcript from Loyola College
  • A résumé
  • Three letters of recommendation, as follows: one from the Loyola College pre-nursing advisor, at least one additional academic letter of recommendation, and one which may be from a superior of an appropriate pre-professional experience.

Admission is competitive and each application will be reviewed individually.

*Further summer study may be necessary if students wish to keep their semester course loads at 16 or fewer credit hours.
