The Career Resource Library provides a broad assortment of reference material on occupations, employers, and graduate/professional school programs. Internship opportunities are kept on file, as are a variety of job leads and information about on-line employment listings. The Career Resource Library also includes a directory of alumni volunteers who are available to offer career advice and employment information to Loyola students.
DISCOVER, a computerized career guidance system is available for use in the Career Center. This system helps users progress through a systematic career exploration and decision-making process, identify their interests, abilities, experiences and work-related values, and access large databases which contain current information about occupations, schools and educational opportunities.
Numerous publications regarding Graduate/Professional Schools are available to assist students in their research. Students can schedule sessions with counselors to discuss and critique personal statements, essays and applications for graduate and professional schools.
The Alumni Career Networking System, currently with over 1,300 alumni, provides knowledgeable career advice to students from a network of college alumni who have volunteered assistance. They serve as sources of career information and employment opportunities. Individuals who are interested in learning more about a particular career field and seeking employment can utilize this system.
Every year, over 200 employers conduct on-campus interviews with Loyola students. Interviews are arranged on campus for students through a web-based database system, eRecruiting, for students who are within two semesters of graduation. Through eRecruiting, students can post resumes and sign up for interviews. Employers represented include regional, national and international companies, government agencies, school systems, engineering firms, and many others. In addition to on-campus interviews, Loyola maintains strong contacts with a wide range of employers. As a result, career counselors are well-informed about available opportunities.
Announcements of job fairs and career days are posted, along with listings of various job leads for full-time and part-time employment, summer jobs, and a number of internships. These leads are received daily and are made available to the student body by means of the Career Center’s Career Resource Library.
