Interview Format

Loyola offers interviews to senior and transfer students only as a part of our daily visit program, which also includes an Information Session and Campus Tour. At Loyola, the interview is regarded as an exchange of information rather than a means of assessing students. Interviews are not evaluated and are not a factor in our application review process. Information about academics, campus life, and the admission and financial aid processes at Loyola is presented in the Information Session, so the interview is designed to address individual questions and concerns. Interviews generally last 10-20 minutes.
Please note: January1-February 15, we offer Information Sessions only; interviews are for senior and transfer students only.

  • Possible topics that may be covered during the interview:
    Your areas of academic interest
Your areas of extra-curricular interest (athletics, clubs, service, etc.)
Your college search and your interest in Loyola
Your academic background and admission to Loyola

If you are "just looking" and haven't decided to about applying to Loyola...
We would still like to discuss your record informally and give you guidance regarding our admission evaluation.

If you are planning to apply or have already applied...
The counselor's purpose is to review your academic record, to explain Loyola's guidelines and perhaps to offer advice about how to strengthen your application before it goes to final review. Admission to Loyola is competitive, and we never know ahead of time how many students will apply or how strong their applications will be. It is difficult, therefore, to try to predict final decisions in individual cases. Our main focus is to counsel you about your application and about your educational plans in general.
