Sports & Recreation

Loyola College is the home of the Greyhounds! Whether you are a spectator, a competitive athlete or a casual participant, you will find plenty of sports excitement at Loyola.

Intercollegiate Sports

Intercollegiate teams are very competitive and many students are recruited to play for Loyola prior to the beginning of freshman year. These teams compete at the NCAA Division I level. Fifteen of Loyola’s 18 athletic teams compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Men’s Lacrosse competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and Women’s Lacrosse is a Big East Associate member.

Club Sports

The Club Sports program at Loyola offers a chance for students to participate in a competitive environment without the required time commitment of the intercollegiate sports teams. Loyola’s Club Sports face rigorous schedules against other area teams, and additionally, they participate in competitive intercollegiate tournaments. Since they are student-directed, the teams provide leadership opportunities.

Intramural Sports

Intramurals provide a fun and spirited opportunity for students to engage in athletic activities without a highly competitive atmosphere. Offerings are varied throughout the year: team and individual experiences; men's, women's or co-ed. Intramural sports are one of the most popular activities among Loyola students with over 80% of the student body participating.

The Fitness and Aquatic Center and Fitness Activities

Loyola’s state-of-the-art Fitness Center provides a multitude of opportunities for students to become active. The Center boasts a two-story indoor rock-climbing wall, a swimming pool, a multi-court gymnasium, as well as cardiovascular equipment and weight machines. Group fitness classes such as Pilates, spinning and kickboxing are offered weekly.
