Student Services

A college is a true community, a living and learning environment that students call home during their college careers. An array of student services is made available helping students:
  • to achieve their full academic potential
  • to receive academic and personal assistance when needed
  • to grow and develop in character and personal abilities
  • to live in a safe, healthy and positive campus environment

In this section, we highlight the offerings of a number of departments at Loyola dedicated to these goals:

Academic Advising and Support Center

From freshman placement testing to the review of graduation requirements, the Center works with students to plan their educational programs through an extensive advising system and provides services to help students with the challenge of Loyola’s classroom work.

Loyola Writing Center

Operated by the Writing Department, the Writing Center offers resources and trained writing tutors to improve academic papers in every stage of development, from developing initial ideas to assistance with grammar and proofreading.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center’s professional and dedicated staff helps students needing counseling assistance and also sponsors educational programs for the college community.

Alcohol and Drug Education and Support Services

This department promotes informed and healthy lifestyle choices through individual work with students, group work and campus education.

Office of Disability Support Services

This office provides programs, services and support to students with disabilities. Our goal is to facilitate access to Loyola’s programs and activities and to eliminate barriers of any type.

Student Health and Education Services

This department operates Loyola’s on-campus clinic, provides referrals and sponsors a number of health education programs and support groups focusing on certain health issues.

Office of Leadership and New Student Programs

This office sponsors our extensive Summer Orientation Program and other offerings for new students and provides a number of programs to help students develop their leadership skills.

Department of Public Safety

The Campus Police work seven days a week, 24 hours per day to protect our campus. Officer patrol, electronic surveillance of public places, the escort service and other activities are all designed to help meet this goal.
