Cable television is available to all resident students and to a number of offices on the Evergreen Campus. More than 40 commercial channels and 30 education-related channels can be viewed. In addition, Technology Services can provide scheduled transmissions to classes and assembly rooms for educational purposes. Transmission is provided through direct satellite feed, DVDs, VHS tapes and live video telecasts.
Similar to the computer network, Loyola is interconnected with a digital voice telephone system. In addition to on- and off-campus dialing, all members of the Loyola community receive PhoneMail. This password-protected system is full-featured, offering not only message storage and retrieval but also capabilities such as automatic camp-on, callback camp-on, conference calling, hold, park, speed dial and message send. Student should not bring conventional telephones and answering machines for use in their rooms, as they will not work with Loyola’s telephone network, and they are not necessary. Each student extension is permitted 50 local calls for free each month, with a $.10 per call rate after that. Long distance requires a prepaid phone card.
Undergraduates have 100MB of network storage space that can be used for personal web sites. Web page software is available on campus, and the Technology Services Department provides step-by-step instructions for students who are new to the process of creating web sites.
Four cyber café stations are located around campus with e-mail login and Internet browser capabilities.
